(1) IDENTIFY THE CCP'S IN STEP 5 WHICH-I APPLY ALSO TO YOU.

Well, Standardized Imaginings, Interior Dialog and Personality (2.3.c.) applied to your project. They were also relevant to me. I had Interior Dialog about my instructor before I went to see her. I'm sure you had Standardized Imaginings, though they weren't emphasized to a great extent. I had a lot of those in my intimidation experience also.

(2) IDENTIFY CCP'S IN THE REPORT EVIDENT TO YOU BUT OVERLOOKED BY THE WRITER.

Most of what 1 found and what you said coordinated exactly. It's just that the terms used were different. By glancing at the glossary charts I found you had Stereo-types and habits of Social Perception (2.1.a.3.). This was seen when you felt uncomfortable in the cafeteria. For one thing, people eating may stereotype you as a loner or something analogous to that if you eat by yourself. Because of habits, they might just stare (the same thing applies to getting to class late) because you direct their attention away from the instructor.

I also discovered your Systematic Desensitization of Anxiety and Phobias (2.2.c.2.). Once you discussed your intimidation experiences with your huddle buddy, you came to realize that some are easy to overcome and it's a matter of "just concentrating; on your main purpose. . . ." perhaps. Your anxiety is lessened once you gain an understanding of what intimidates you. That's where Desensitization comes n. As you think of or discuss an experience, you fee calmer and more encouraged, well, could I say relaxed? Once you do this for several discussions you get to experience desensitization.

One last thing I uncovered was Anti-anonymity -- Overcoming Routine Intimidation (3.3.a) which seems to be self-explanatory.

(3) THEORIZE REGARDING THE "DYNAMIC FORCES" IN THE WRITER'S "LIFE SPACE"

First of all, perceptual Identification and Categorization (2.1.b.3.) seems to be a great way of keeping your thoughts in mind. It is accomplished in your case by logging activities on the daily round. Another "dynamic force is Desensitization. You get -to relax and understand your intimidation experience more by discussing it with someone or yourself (Interior Dialog). Interior Dialog seems to be a constant factor in everything you do. But Interior Dialog is important because it gives you a chance to see where your thoughts are.

GENERAL COMMENTS:

Very thorough project. Your logging activities were excellent! I never thought of that. Very good insight on your part. Your report was extremely clear and made no problem for analysis. I'm glad you learned more about how you can overcome intimidation. It's a good skill to have throughout your life. Your huddle buddy seemed like a good person to know; though I do agree with you on overcoming intimidation by yourself. If you don't, you'll never be able to understand how SP forces can control your thoughts and actions. It is SP forces that influence what you do, think, and say.

I'm glad your huddle buddy helped. Mine did too. I felt good that she did help me. The form you utilized for your project was interesting. Everything fell into place perfectly! Overall, I enjoyed reading your project. Thanks for new insights into viewing intimidation.

ANNOTATIONS ON #23:

There didn't seem to be any CCP's labeled. Perhaps 1) situated behavior= behavior in social settings ( 1. 1. a. 2 ), 2) Appearance and first impressions ( 2. 1. a. 1.), 3) Speculative reality and the law of social Illusion ( 2. 1. a. 4), 4) Anti-Anonymity= overcoming routine intimidation ( 3. 3.a), 5) Appropriate Preparation= Expertise ( 3. 3. b. 1), 6) Body balance and survival ( 4. 2. a ) and 7) warm fuzzies and cold pricklies ( 5. 3. b. 4).

It's a bit difficult to write about a close friend and huddle buddy objectively. Intimidation to us all seems to be an emotion, a fear of not being socially accepted. Perhaps what we need to overcome is the drive for social acceptance ( easier said than done).

Bullying would fall under the category of being accepted for one's self as would embarrassment and failure. The best way I know to be socially accepted would be to be yourself.

For most of the time I've known you, it seems as if everyone picks on Lynn for whatever reason. As I've grown to know, understand and accept you for who you are, I've found a truly unique person. Perhaps most of our greatest intimidating situations are rooted in our minds as a result of others criticisms. One way to overcome this would be to find out you're a really great person no matter what anyone says. Does it really matter all that much what people think.

INTIMIDATIONS

I noticed you started off by listing general types of intimidations, and then went on to list specific intimidations. I think the way you listed you specific intimidations is good. It resembles the form of the data collected for the money thoughts project. I think it might be better to start off with the specific intimidations, and then generalize them, and put them into broader categories.

You noticed that many of your intimidations were shared by your huddle buddy. I found the same -the same thing with my huddle bunny, whoops-huddle buddy! I think that by realizing that a lot of people share the same intimidations, reduces the degree of intimidation. In your instance of falling down and making A, I like your idea of control of face work. When I find myself in that type of situation, I pretend like no one was there to see it.

I agree with what you said about the usefulness of the huddle buddy, but than I disagree also. You didn't really need the buddy to solve the problem, but it's good to hear what another person says. Of course anybody could have served the same role, but if you weren't assigned a huddle buddy, would you have discussed it with another person?

You're right, intimidations can't be erased, but they can be reduced. I don't think that avoiding the intimidating situation is the answer, I think facin' up to it is. ID #66

I think it is terrific that you can relate and use concepts from this class in your other classes. Besides the DFF's keeping you from procrastinating, haven't you become an A-1 typist? Or perhaps you already were one 80 this is just keeping you in shape. I agree with you that one of the greatest gains is the team discussions, group quizzes, communication between peers etc.

I totally agree with your Recommendations, especially the one about class managers being more informed. This class does require a lot of time and I can see where it is difficult to put more time in, that you are.

I believed you did your Progress report very well. Besides being on time it seems you spent a lot of time preparing what you wanted to say. The skills you have learned have shown that you really are one of the advanced people in the class. I can tell from your stating Of the various things you learned and how they helped you learn many things. I agree that I have learned too the fact that being aware Of the social forces is on of the first things I've learned. I knew they were there before but I guess I just never knew what to call it. The aspect of communication is another thing that I also learned and am finding useful in other things that I am trying to achieve in life. The small groups force you to get involved. After reading your plans and comments I feel you are getting the most out of this class that is possible and I think you will do well. You have a very positive attitude to this class which is very good.

The area in which I relate to your progress report is how the forces around my daily round affect me and that I'm more aware of them. I don't usually have trouble meeting deadlines, but I do see where doing the DFF's could help you. I don't think it really makes you more aware of the deadline as it seems to be almost like a habit by now. It really is a big help to go over the lecture topics and relate them to my daily round though. Communication between the community seems to be at a low point right now as no one really knows what to do and when to turn it in by and also how to do it. Abilities as a student should be restricted to doing the skills in this course specifically, although certain areas could be applicable to other courses as well.

You said that you can learn easier in this type of setting as there isn't much competition as a result Of the collective basis, however, I think this course is unique and right now the only one of its kind. What about future courses that you will take? How has this course added to your becoming a better student with the consideration that there aren't any other collective based classes? Isn't life all competitive???
